چکیده

We perform error probability analysis of the uncoded OFDM fixed gain Amplify-and-Forward (AF) relaying system with subcarrier permutation (SCP). Two SCP schemes, named: the best-to-best SCP (BTB SCP) and the best-to-worst SCP (BTW SCP) are considered. Closedform expressions for the bit error rate (BER) of the above SCP methods are derived. Numerical results manifest that these SCP schemes may outperform one another, depending on the average channel conditions of the links involved. That is, BTB SCP is better at low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) values, while BTW SCP prevails in the medium and high SNR regime. Thus, it could be concluded that OFDM AF relaying systems may switch from the BTB SCP to BTW SCP in order to achieve optimum BER performance. Moreover, using the derived end-to-end SNR probability density functions (PDF), tight upper bounds for the ergodic capacities of both SCP schemes are obtained. key words: amplify-and-forward, OFDM, relay, subcarrier permutation

Optimal Unitary Linear Processing for Amplify-and-Forward Cooperative OFDM systems

In this paper, we consider the amplified-and-forward relaying in an OFDM system with unitary linear processing at the relay. We proposed a general analytical framework to find the unitary linear processing matrix that maximizes the system achievable rate. We show that the optimal processing matrix is a permutation matrix, which implies that a subcarrier pairing strategy is optimal. We further d...

Resource Allocation for OFDM Systems Based On Sub-Carrier Pairing

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a form of multicarrier modulation. Different symbols are transmitted over different subcarriers. The use of relays increase the coverage area, improve spectral efficiency and also the network lifetime. On the basis of the amplify and forward relaying mode, a two hop multi relay system is proposed with joint relay selection, subcarrier assignm...

Technical Report on "Capacity Region Bounds and Resource Allocation for Two-Way OFDM Relay Channels"

In this paper, we consider two-way orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) relay channels, where the direct link between the two terminal nodes is too weak to be used for data transmission. The widely known per-subcarrier decode-and-forward (DF) relay strategy, treats each subcarrier as a separate channel, and performs independent channel coding over each subcarrier. We show that this...

OFDM AF FG Relaying as an Energy Efficient Solution for the Next Generation Mobile Cellular Systems

We analyzed the bit error rate (BER) and ergodic capacity performance improvement of dual-hop OFDM amplify and forward (AF) relay system with fixed gain (FG) at relay station (R), all attained through ordered subcarrier mapping (SCM) at R. In previous works we showed that in the region of small values of average signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) on hops best-to-best SCM (BTB SCM) scheme should be a...

Bit Error Probability Analysis of Cooperative Relay Selection OFDM Systems Based on SNR Estimation

Cooperative networking plays an important role in wireless adhoc and sensor networks, in which the information from the source to the destination is relayed by intermediate nodes. In this paper, we propose OFDM-based all subcarrier and per subcarrier basis relay selection schemes. The relay selection is based on average signal to noise ratio (SNR) estimation. Data aided (DA) preamble based MMSE...
